Fit Indeed the real story

Fit Indeed was founded in 2013 and here’s why:

real_story_indeedI have always been a person that would get to the bottom of anything. If I was interested in any subject I would research it in great depth and I would become a specialist in that particular subject. If I got ill I would find out the reason and would try to prevent getting ill again. I was always hyper aware of my health and body and therefore I have implemented many healthy solutions in my life which became my lifestyle. I have done that purely for myself to keep fit and healthy.

One day I had a call from my sister. Her tone was low and serious. I knew something had happened. She said that our Dad had had a stroke and was in hospital. He was only 56 years old at the time and it was a huge shock for both of us. He had been on his own in his apartment for 4 days before he was found. I could not believe it. I flew home the next day. I was really scared and didn’t know what to expect. My Mum had died when I was 11 so my dad was indeed the only parent I had.

He left the hospital after a week and I stayed with him for a few weeks. The right side of his body was weaker than the left and he had severe brain damage. He was very confused and couldn’t remember many events and facts in his life, even my name. Once he got a bit better he could not understand why he had had the stroke.

He was convinced he had always been healthy. When I was explaining about fat, smoking, fried eggs and potatoes I realized how little he knew about healthy food and the danger of fat, cholesterol, hypertension etc. It got me thinking…  He never listened when we were telling him not to eat this much butter, not to fry his food so often etc. After the stroke he started to listen. He had to change his lifestyle.

With my dear sister we taught him about healthy food. We cooked and froze food for him so that he always had a ready dinner in the freezer. I was the only one who could persuade him to exercise so I got qualified in cardiovascular training to keep his heart healthy and in pilates to work on his right side. He is doing really well now.  He goes for a run a couple times a week and he has even started cooking … healthy indeed!

It is a bit too late for my dad because the brain damage can’t be reversed. That’s why it is so important to me to help other people and make them more aware of the dangers of unhealthy food and lack of physical activity. I want to educate people so that they can enjoy a healthy life for longer as health is one of the most important things in our life! This is why I founded FiT Indeed and have decided to write an online journal about healthy food and share it with other people. This is the real story of Fit Indeed🙂

Please let me know if you have been through similar? I would love to hear your real story in the comments below.
